ELEONORE CHARREY
Bespoke website for a photographers' agent
THE BRIEF
Eleonore Charrey is a Paris agency with twenty years of experience representing photographers and directors, bringing together distinctive perspectives across still and moving images.
The brief was to translate the agency’s established print identity into a contemporary website. Minimal, modular and easy to update, it needed to introduce the agency while giving each photographer’s work its own expression. Curated portfolios and recent news would offer complementary ways to discover the photographers and their practices.
THE DESIGN CONCEPT
A new typeface, paired with the existing lowercase treatment, carries the agency’s print identity into a contemporary digital setting. A monochrome foundation, softened by pale grey and touches of the agency’s blue, creates a restrained setting for the images.
Generous white space and asymmetric grids allow their scale and arrangement to vary across each portfolio. A discreet menu keeps navigation simple, while a logo that transforms on scroll and smooth transitions introduce movement into the otherwise quiet composition.
KEY FEATURES
The homepage introduces the represented photographers through an adaptable grid combining still and moving images. A separate highlighted news section brings recent projects and updates into focus.
Individual portfolios follow the same visual language while offering different layouts for each photographer. Categories lead into curated series, which can be explored through an autoplay slideshow or a grid overview: two ways of moving between the sequence and the individual image.
News has a dedicated section, with stories also appearing on the relevant photographer’s page and selected features highlighted on the homepage.
ADDITIONAL TOOLS
A structured content management system gives the agency the freedom to add photographers, develop portfolios and publish news within the established design. The modular approach allows the website to evolve with the people and work it represents.
