ERIC SAUVAGE
Bespoke website for a photographer
THE BRIEF
Eric Sauvage is a photographer and director based in Paris and Geneva.
The brief was to design and develop a minimalist website with a strong visual presence, bringing still and moving images into one continuous experience. His existing logo would become a graphic starting point for presenting more than 1,000 images and videos across six categories. The website needed to remain easy to update, with particular care given to preserving the visual balance and art direction as new work was added.
THE DESIGN CONCEPT
A new typeface complements the distinctive geometry of Eric’s logo. Closely spaced grids combine signature portrait and landscape formats, creating a precise visual rhythm through the changing scale, colour and movement of the work.
Elements drawn from the logo extend across the interface, appearing in the menu’s opening animation and shaping the composition of the contact page. These details give the website a coherent identity while keeping the images central to the experience.
KEY FEATURES
The homepage opens with an expansive showreel, with the option to switch sound on or off. Below, a minimal grid introduces the work—a visual thread carried through each of the six categories.
Selecting a photograph or moving image opens a full-screen slideshow, revealing further images from the same series through smooth transitions.
An interactive full-page menu offers visual previews of each category, making navigation another way to encounter the work.
ADDITIONAL TOOLS
A bespoke drag-and-drop interface allows Eric and his team to rearrange the homepage grid visually, adjusting the sequence of photographs and moving images as new projects are introduced. This gives him direct control over the composition, making ongoing updates part of the website’s art direction.
