Galerie Esther Woerdehoff

Bespoke art gallery website

THE BRIEF

Founded in Paris in 1997, Galerie Esther Woerdehoff has a longstanding commitment to photography. Its move to the Marais in 2026 marked an opening towards painting, sculpture, video and mixed media.

The brief was to design and develop a bespoke gallery website that would give this evolving programme a renewed digital presence. The gallery’s elegant existing logo would remain the starting point, with a new visual identity and clear navigation in French and English. An extensive archive spanning more than 30 artists and over 1000 images needed a coherent structure that would also be simple for the gallery team to maintain.

THE DESIGN CONCEPT

A new modern typeface, fine dividing lines and generous white space create a quiet, contemporary setting for the work. A precise grid provides continuity while allowing images to unfold in different arrangements.

Visitors can move from the wider perspective of a series to the detail of an individual piece. Subtle transitions and slideshow views introduce a measured rhythm, leaving space to look, read and discover.

KEY FEATURES

The homepage follows the rhythm of the gallery’s programme. A bespoke slideshow brings current exhibitions and art fairs into focus, while a wider overview introduces upcoming events, off-site projects and artists’ news.

An artist directory opens onto individual practices through series, biographies and recent activity. Behind these different encounters, one connected artwork archive allows the same piece to appear within an artist’s work, an exhibition or an event.

ADDITIONAL TOOLS

Artist talks bring another voice to the experience, presented through discreet custom video players.

Enquiry forms accompany artworks throughout the website, offering a direct connection with the gallery whenever a particular piece invites further conversation.
